American Exploration: Little Haiti, Miami

May 2025

Little Haiti is a thriving Miami neighborhood that developed in the late 20th century into a vibrant center of Haitian culture, alive with Creole-language storefronts, lively music, and a deep sense of community. At its heart stands Little Haiti FC, a nonprofit youth and adult soccer club founded in 2014 and now the largest organization of its kind in South Florida. Offering completely free, high-level training to over 175 kids and 2 semiprofessional teams for both men and women, the club goes far beyond the game by providing academic mentoring, college prep, healthcare access, and social support. Their mission is rooted in equity and opportunity, ensuring that every player, regardless of background, has a chance to grow on and off the field. With a 100% high school graduation rate and a legacy of shaping futures, Little Haiti FC is more than a team, it’s a cornerstone of a community built on pride, purpose, and possibility.
