Community Exploration is a documentary and photographic journey into immigrant and diaspora communities across North America, connected by football, heritage, and belonging. Building on the foundation of American Exploration (2025), the project expanded beyond still photography into a four-part YouTube documentary series, allowing each community to share its history, traditions, and identity in its own voice.
Created ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, the project looks at the people and cultures that will give the tournament its character beyond the stadiums. Guided by the backgrounds of FC Bayern’s players, the series follows cultural threads that live beyond the field, moving through Korean life in Los Angeles, Colombian culture in Jackson Heights, Haitian and French-Canadian identity in Montreal, and German-American heritage across Miami and Hazleton.
Through family businesses, music, food, language, friendship, and memories passed between generations, each episode explores how people carry home with them and build community in new places. Football is the thread connecting every chapter, showing how a player, club, or national team can become a reflection of identity, pride, and belonging.
Together, the films and photographs offer a portrait, honoring the people keeping their cultures alive across generations.
