As part of Major League Soccer’s Archive Kit campaign, D.C. United was selected to unveil a special-edition jersey celebrating the club’s legacy and cultural impact. I was invited to photograph a series of studio film portraits that highlighted the intersection of past and present.

Shot entirely on film, the project brought me to the D.C. United legends and current first-team players. I used medium format for the portraits to ensure maximum detail and to take advantage of the rich tonality and shallow depth of field that 120 film offers. To complement those formal moments, I also shot on 35mm to document the candid, in-between interactions that gave the session its energy and authenticity. A huge credit goes to Hannah Wagner, the club photographer, whose creative direction and lighting vision brought the shoot to life.

It was an opportunity to contribute to a campaign that celebrates memory, evolution, and community through sport and style—with a team that has helped define the narrative of American soccer.
