About the Print

The Korea v. Mexico match was one I had been looking forward to during the first part of this project. With so much love between the two countries playing, and in a city shaped by deep immigrant roots from each, I just knew it was going to be a special day. It absolutely was.

Both communities were well represented in LA, and the streets of Koreatown were packed. On one end, the Los Angeles Korean Festival Foundation hosted a viewing party and celebration. On the other, Mexican fans crowded together, singing, dancing, and searching for any space they could find to watch the game.

Toward the end of the match, I made my way over to the Mexican fan area and snapped this frame. I hope you can get a sense of what that moment felt like.
