In collaboration with The Liverpool FC Foundation and Uptown Soccer, I designed and led a four-part photography workshop in Spring 2025 aimed at introducing Bronx-based youth soccer players to career pathways in sports beyond the field—through the lens of photography. The core intention of the program was to help students become more self-aware of their everyday world and to use photography as a tool for self-expression. Over four weekly sessions across April and May, I guided participants through the fundamentals of visual storytelling, digital and film photography, and photo composition—all grounded in their own lived experiences.

As the workshop instructor, I created the curriculum and provided all instructional materials. I also coordinated guest speakers—professional photographers and creatives working in and around sports—to share their personal journeys and expand the students’ understanding of what a career in the creative industry could look like. Each two-hour session was designed to blend technical learning with personal exploration, encouraging students to reflect on their environments and voices through image-making.

The workshop culminated in two key creative outcomes. First, students were tasked with documenting moments not only from their soccer community but also from their family lives and daily routines—allowing them to explore storytelling in a fuller, more personal way. Second, each student created a handmade photobook featuring a selection of their own photographs, bringing their unique perspectives to life in tangible form. This initiative, part of the LFC Foundation’s mission to empower youth through education and sport, offered a powerful platform for visibility, creativity, and growth.
